About Us
Katherine King, President
Kathy King's approach to fundraising is based on 40 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, leading development efforts for both small community organizations and major institutions. She holds a Master’s Degree in Nonprofit Management from the University of San Francisco and is a Certified Fundraising Executive.
Kathy served for over 12 years as the Executive Director of Sonoma Overnight Support . In her tenure there, she raised over $8 million from private foundations, religious communities, businesses, Civic groups, and individual donors. She managed the Capital Campaign opening the SOS UNITY KITCHEN in November 2023, coordinating the efforts of getting over $2 million worth of kitchen equipment and renovations.
As the first Director of Development and Stewardship for the Diocese of Oakland, she implemented a diocesan-wide annual appeal, a major donor gift society, and a planned giving program that raised more than $20 million during her 12-year tenure. She also led the “quiet” phase of a Capital Campaign to build the Cathedral of Christ the Light in Oakland, securing funds from local foundations and major donors.
At Seton Medical Center in Daly City, she increased participation in the annual golf tournament by 47 percent, making it a signature event that grossed $575,000. The two-day gala included a live auction, seated banquet, and a car raffle, sponsored by City Toyota. She was featured twice in TIME magazine for the partnership with City Toyota in a full-page ad valued at $375,000.
She has also developed successful fundraising plans for Catholic Charities in San Francisco and Oakland and used her no-nonsense, practical approach to fundraising to train volunteers for Oakland Community Organizations and the Agape Foundation in San Francisco. As Agape’s executive director, she streamlined the grant request process to make it easier for small nonprofits to complete their funding proposals.
Kathy served for five years as president of the Supporters of Doelger Senior Center, securing funds to maintain programs for senior citizens in Daly City. As vice president of the International Catholic Stewardship Council, based in Washington DC, she spearheaded efforts to spread the mission of stewardship in dioceses throughout the U.S.
